Review: Forgotten Promises

Forgotten PromisesForgotten Promises by Jessica Lemmon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

FINAL SCORE - 5 I'M STILL EMOTIONAL STARS!!!

Reading this has been tough. The subject matter is dark, gritty, and scarring. There were times I had to put it down and just walk away and reflect.

Powerful stuff.

I'm happy that closure was obtained, peace was found, and justice WAS served. Although not the type I would have preferred, but in the long run - the only kind that could have happened.

Tucker... my heart is with you.

Review - Unwrap Me

Unwrap Me (Stark Trilogy, #3.9)Unwrap Me by J. Kenner

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 It Really IS A Wonderful Life Stars!!!

Tis the season for family and friends to get together and just relax and be as one. Jackson, Sylvie, Ryan, Ollie, Jamie, and even Little Ronnie too. All gather for the festivities at one of Damien's homes.

And of course Little Ronnie has Uncle Damien wrapped around her little fingers - I pity Jackson & Sylvie when this child turns teenager! Sylvie is now 5 months pregnant and of course, or naturally, the topic of babies turns to when Damien and co. will supply their inner circle with Little Fairchild/Stark's.

Let's hope it's in the not to distant future - I for one would LOVE to see Damien melted by a mini version of his sweet Nikki.

Throwing the What if? aspect was nearly comical for me to read - I don't quite see thing having happened that way - but it was plausible and thank good it was after-all... just a dream.

To find out who's, you'll just have to figure that out for yourself.

Review - Uncoverd (Colours of Love Series, Book 2)

Uncovered (Colours of Love, #2)Uncovered by Kathryn Taylor

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 WHY DOES SHE STAY Stars?!

At this point, Jonathan is coming across as an A$$. He wants only what he wants, on his terms. But, he wanted to try with Grace. That's not how this works Jonathan!!!

And she stays?! She puts up with his moods, his flip-flop attitude, his indifference, the rage, all for what? Scraps?

I wanted to throw this book SO many times in frustration at the both of them! Sometime, it's just better to walk away. I would a long time ago. I guess Grace still sees something in him, that I just can't.

Nice twist there about his parents... although, I kinda felt it would head in that direction. I guess that and Sarah & Alex's relationship is why I stuck around til the end.

Now... about that ending... FAN-FRIGGIN'-TASTIC!!! I would have made him squirm a bit more though - the man has put her through an emotional ringer! And she still was giving him affection during his apology. UGH!!! Someone needs to teach her how to stand up BETTER for herself!

Now, onto the conclusion... oy vey!

Review - Unbound (Colours of Love Series, Book 1)

Unbound - Colours of Love (Colours of Love Series Book 1)Unbound - Colours of Love by Kathryn Taylor

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 WHOA, WHAT DID I JUST READ Stars!

So, Grace is inexperienced in ALL things - life, men, sex, etc. She flies to England for an internship, and immediately upon landing meets her "new" boss and falls for him? Ignores everyone's warning and pursues him to the distraction of becoming known as "office slut" to her work colleagues?

Does this novel scream ANTI-WOMAN'S LIBERATION to me or what? The answer: Yes... and no.

Right now, I really don't know how I feel about Grace's blind trust/faith in Jonathan - the man has done NOTHING but say that she's quick easy lay & that's all she'll ever be. And yet she comes back for more and MORE each time difficulties come up.

I have sneaking suspicion that after I finish this series, I'll want to hurl my iPad at the nearest wall and scream "WHY DID I READ THAT"? But... also, at the same time - I have to admit I too am intrigued by enigmatic Jonathan and what his "damage" is. Cause lets face it - from Day 1, he's shown some damage not only in his actions, but also his body language & interactions with others. The only people he's let close enough to him are his sister, but even that has it's limits. Yes, I want to peel back his layers and discover just what makes him tick.

So... onto the next book it is for me!

Review - The Game Plan

The Game Plan (Game On, #3)The Game Plan by Kristen Callihan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 WHAT AN ENDING TO BEHOLD Stars!!!

Fi and Ethan did not disappoint and were the perfect couple to explore in this LAST book of the series. Grant, they suffered the highs and lows of trying to balance life, love, and distance in a new relationship... but they weathered the storm, together somewhat.

That explosion just before the end has been gearing up for sometime, but like Fi said, "Better to get it out then have it break you."

I'm sad these characters are now gone, but they will live on for me (I plan to re-read this at a later date). And who knows, I can smell a spin-off series in the wings...

Maybe?
Hopefully?
Please? *cheesy grin*

Review - Autumn in London

Autumn in London (The Empire State Trilogy, #2)Autumn in London by Louise Bay

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE DID IT AGAIN STARS!!!

When I first saw this book on a blog suggesting that I shouldn't turn away, at first I was skeptical. I mean, haven't you heard that before?

Was I ever WRONG! This book was amaze-balls!!! Anna and Ethan connect from the first moment their eyes met, and even though it was just supposed to be a fling, against their better judgement and those pesky rules, it has turned into so much MORE!

Now if only 3,000 miles (he's based in NY, her in London) and those rules didn't separate them! But, I have a feeling a good thing like what they have, can only be kept at bay but for so long... but, the rules are still in play!!!

And their relationship has moved from FLING to genuine LOVE. Yet, they dare not to speak and only enjoy their time together until he has to head back home to New York?! WTF?!?! *anger emoji*

These two better put those rules to the way-side or else their going to miss out on their chance!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 AMAZING STARS!!!

The action was pulse pounding, the suspense had me biting my nails to the quick, the passion had my heart racing. This book had it ALL!

Everly aka Eve and Gabriel didn't see the other coming, but the moment their eyes more than met - FIREWORKS!

This book will keep you on your toes, up late at night and consistently think you've solved it... only find out how twisted the deception and lies go.

I definitely recommend this book and I cannot WAIT until the next one is released!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

FINAL SCORE - 5 OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU LEFT IT THERE AGAIN Stars!!!

***received ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***

WHY!!! Why did you leave it like that?! I wanted more! Yes, I'm greedy, but Dylan has made me so... more so than Annie. Gah!!!

I couldn't wait to read the next book and now I'm sad and pouty that its finished - ended. I just feel that there's more to be told. Will we ever know just who the hell Joan was? Did Max survive? Did Margaret find out about Tiffany and the kids? I need answers!!!

Loved this story from beginning to end. And Dylan... my heart was healed by stubborn refusal and then earth shattering realization that he wasn't broken & could/did love Annie. And Pops. That just broke my heart, for him... for Dylan... for Annie. At least that relationship was mended.

Seriously speaking, I have more questions than answers. Can I get them answered in the new book... pretty please?

This book was exactly what I needed to read after the last one, but I have a serious HUGH book-hangover now though.

Final Score - 4 Why Did I Stars

***received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***

I hate to admit this, but this book took WAY LONGER for me to get into and for me, that just DOESN'T HAPPEN! And while I'd like to blame it on my illness (currently battling a serious cold), it really had EVERYTHING to do with development of the plot line and story's characters - I just couldn't connect AT ALL with anything about this story. Most confusing of all - The Title. What did the title have anything to do with the book? Ugh!!!

I eventually did manage to get thru it, but for it to then end so abruptly and without a valid ending? I feel like this had the potential to be a great book, but it was given up on. I don't like saying that, but that's how the ending felt. Cut way too short without any resolvement.

I don't know at this point if I will re-read this book at a later point to come up with another opinion (as I said, I'm sick and not running on full cylinders so to speak), but I will. Hopefully, this was just a fluke, but at this point, I'm seriously doubting it (I mean, you can't change a bad ending). At least it was a free book given to me and I didn't waste my money on buying it.

That really would have pissed me off.

Review - Sustained

Sustained (The Legal Briefs, #2)Sustained by Emma Chase

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score- 5 I CRIED MY EYES OUT Stars!!!

Between the kids just being kids, Chelsea trying to keep it all together and not fall apart, or even Jake being your typical dumb male... I didn't know who broke my heart the most. Even when I was laughing, I was crying!

Jake will break your heart, and he did quite frequently with his indivisiveness and confusion about how he thought his life/career should be like. The kids will not only steal it but heal it as well.

There just wasn't one character I couldn't not fall in love with, from sour-faced Riley to adorable baby Ronan - each one burrowed into my heart and will forever remain. I don't think I've ever finished an Emma Chase novel as quickly as I did this one and I'm kinda sad that it's over now as I should have paced myself more slowly.

I can't wait for the last book in the series... from the excerpt at the end, it'll be another book I won't be able to put down once I get my hands on it.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Final score - 3.5 Stars

While I did enjoy this book and the plot twist was something I did NOT see coming, I was disappointed in how...

All was forgiven and basically forgotten &
They ended up together?!

I'm sorry, but that just doesn't ring true. No matter the love that was there, what was done can never be undone. Being at the scene of the crime makes you just as guilty as the perpetrator. I could not forgive him. That just screams BS to me.

Once Kissed (O'Brien Family, #1)Once Kissed by Cecy Robson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 yes, Yes, YES Stars!!!

I have to admit, at first when I started reading this... I was a bit confused. In reading this story, I could have sworn I had these characters before. And sure enough, it finally clicked!

THESE ARE KILLIAN'S SIBLINGS from the series before! DUH!!!

LOL I love it that they are getting their own spin off! I love the O'Briens was once again transported back to their mixed neighborhood - reminded me of home in a way.

Curran and Tess ... gosh. The crap her father put her thru! I'm so happy that at least he was made to pay for being a jerk and all around mess of a parent. I don't even want his actions explained, THERE IS NO EXCUSE! To me, he ranks up there with Teo, Letty, & Sofie's pop. Grrrr...

Great read - the only reason why it too me so long honestly to read it is due to sleep. Had to get some quality time in because between work and my puppy - my hours were pretty much spent & didn't have a lot to spare. But once I got in it, I WAS ALL IN!

Can't wait for the next one in the series... who will it be next? Declan or Wren? I'm leaning more towards Declan and Melissa *wink*

WHY???? After everything they had been thru, there's not epilogue? NO HEA ending that was succulent, I wanted to gobble, Gobble, GOBBLE it up until I threw it back up again? :(

They book had me, from sarcastic beginning to it's witty ending - I still feel that it warranted and HEA epilogue, but who knows... I maybe the minority on that.

Jackson was dirty, raunchy, SEX incarnate! I was fantasizing right along with Lilly!!! *blushes*

I want more, I just can't let either of them go. I still have questions! The mother - what's her story? It never was explained to my satisfaction. The stepfather - what happened to his company?

Please sir, can I have some more?! *bats eye lashes at you*

***Received this ARC in exchange for a honest review***

It took a while for me to get into this book. Maybe I was distracted and picked it up at the wrong time to read, or maybe it was just slow to start & I couldn't connect with the characters like I normally do. Whatever the case, I buckled down and finally got into it.

And can I just say... WOW! I've shocked myself by how much I liked it.

The only thing I didn't like was the build up to the great reveal about Connor. It confused me at time why he was remembering screaming and then nothing else. Left me feeling frustrated as to why this was introduced until it was finally explaining chapters later & before the end.

Otherwise, and enjoyable read in which I'm sure some of us can relate to - high school, jerks, nemesis, etc.

Step BeastStep Beast by Selena Kitt

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 4.5 Stars!

Received this ARC in exchange for an honest review...

This book had me hooked from beginning to end, so much so, I had to abandon another ARC (which didn't capture me from the 1st page). That's how gripping it was.

Although at times I felt that the "heroine" was quite juvenile at times and annoying, she slowly change right before my eyes. Tilly has definitely been thru the ringer, but she's a survivor. Conrad aka Beast is quite the departure from the typical "hero" I've read before. He's complex, insufferable, and just made me want to smack him constantly! Again, like Tilly, slowly during the course of the story he changed - but not much *wink* Then again, you don't really want him to.

Loved how the story ended as it was plausible and totally believable. My only wish was that there was a true epilogue to this story. It really deserved one.

I guess that and more questions will be answered in the next book, huh?

This book was exactly what I needed to read after the last one. Serious book-hangover now though.

Lety and Brody just about broke my heart into tiny pieces. God, the crap they went thru - it was enough to make ANYONE say ENOUGH!

I'm so happy that they both worked thru their issues and came out on the other side, better for it. I just hate the horror that had to be experienced. The parents in the book ... gosh, you just want to HATE THEM for the crap they've put their kids thru. Now those are stories I would LOVE to read about.. to understand more about them.

All in all, I wish I had read this series in order, but in a way I'm kinda glad I didn't. Definitely have a box of Kleenex and Tylenol on hand - you WILL be needing both after reading this book! I kid you NOT!!!

This book just about broke my heart ... for the hero/heroine. God! The stuff they've been thru, the deceit that separated them, the final act that just about blew them apart - appalling! Disgusting! Unimaginable! I wanted to commit murder as well.

Thankfully, cooler head prevailed and justice was served - but not enough IMO. We only found out what happened to two of the four perpetrators, I wanted to know what happened to the others. I think I as a reader deserved to know!

Otherwise, the HEA was so sweet and 12 yrs in the making - thus making it so RICHLY deserved. By far the best of the series yet!

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Although there were time when I wanted to slap the heroine for not being more forthcoming about her past, this book still ended well to me with a realistic ending.

What's more, I didn't know this was part of a series... BONUS!!! I'm looking forward to reading more about this family, as they've ALL burrowed in my heart. Now my only question is this - will it be one of the Kavanagh brothers or Casey that gets the next book. I'm rooting for Kieran... this book touched on him, but I didn't anymore info on him other than he's a twin and in prison. The other characters we well plotted out, but the secrecy surround Kieran has made me more than curious about him.

Review - Grey

Grey (Fifty Shades, #4)Grey by E.L. James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Final Score - 4 Stars

Okay, I've read the ENTIRE Fifty Shades Trilogy and after seeing it from Ana's prospective, its natural that Christian would get a say in how this relationship come to be.

Were there any real changes? Nope, although I there was a nice surprise. Other than that, I found the book ... boring. It was just the same thing from the first three book done over again. No wonder it took me days instead of hours to finish reading. I was procrastinating, and I believe I consciously did so.

The book, to me, was just... alright to me. It was different to see things from his point of view, and getting more insight to what he was thinking during certain parts of the book was nice to read, but challenging to make sense of.

Overall, I can't help but come up with this question - "Was this book really necessary?" Afraid not.

The Friend Zone (Game On, #2)The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 OMGness Stars!!!

The second book in the Game On series, just as awesome, humorous, laughable, heartfelt, & sex-a-thon as it's predecessor. There wasn't ANYTHING I didn't love about this book. Not the characters, plot development, overall outcome.

Even though the epilogue made me want MORE, that's just because I'm greedy like that & I didn't want to say goodbye to Ivy or Grey just yet, much like how I felt after reading the first book. Of course, the couple that first brought me back (Anna & Drew make an appearance in this book as well), so I'm hoping this follows thru with the next book in the series.

Overall, I wasn't disappointed. Neither will anyone else who reads this. You'll laugh, you'll cry, YOU WILL BE TURNED THE HELL ON, but never will say... "Why the hell did I read that!"

I know I'm supposed to ignore punctuation errors, spelling error, etc. but unfortunately when tied all together, I could not. The grammatical errors are what plague me the most as at time I was left not fully understanding what was happening or what the author meant to say. Reading this as is was for me inconsistent and confusing.

The love story was endearing though. I would read the second book of the series as I would like to see where the relationship goes and if the truth is revealed & how.

Review - Taming Lily

Taming Lily (The Fowler Sisters, #3)Taming Lily by Monica Murphy

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 STARS!!!

ARC provided by publisher, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review ... and I thank not only the publisher, but the author as well!

THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT STORY, from beginning to end!!!

Lily certainly lived up to the build up from Violet & Rose's stories... or did she?

As I knew - or better said, had a feeling - Lily would be the misplaced, misunderstood sister of the trio. Violet was her father's protege. Rose was the baby. Lily naturally would the troubled child, typically reserved for the middle child, but in this case the oldest of the family had lots of not only Daddy issues, but Mommy ones as well.

It was refreshing to read this story from both Lily's POV and Max's. You could relate to the head space each of these characters were in - what they've dealt with, the knocks life has thrown at them, to come out on the other side. Stronger. Survivors. Although neither of them consider themselves to be.

I was engrossed with this book, although life did get in the way. Whatever free time I had was reserved for this book. Even if it was a 10 min break from work - I had this book in my hand and I was reading! At times, I had to force myself to put it down to tackle my chores. Monica Murphy definitely saved the best sister... for last!

And everyone should have a champion in their corner like Max. The relationship - granted it didn't start out on the most honest or conventional of terms - will leave you breathless... panting for the next word, sentence, paragraph, chapter!

This will definitely be put on my TBRR (To Be Re-Read list) and will definitely be shared by word of mouth to friends & family.

Received this book free for an honest review... so here it goes -

There was NOTHING I didn't love about this book. Frustrating to read through? Yes! But I think that was more me than the book. lol

Great plot & character development - I was totally engrossed by Skye's first person narrative of her story. She had me laughing, crying, angry, happy throughout.

Although I wanted to bash Dante & Gordon's heads together at many times during the story, they both endeared themselves to me.

Rox is the BFSF you WANT to have until the END OF TIME, although there was a time I was worried about her intentions.

All in all... I'm thoroughly satisfied with how the book ended, although I do admit to wanted to know a bit more about what happened to the archenemy in the book (but that's just my curiosity speaking!). lol

Stealing Rose (The Fowler Sisters, #2)Stealing Rose by Monica Murphy

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Stars!

Love, love, LOVE Rose and Caden's story! I knew where the storyline was headed, but the journey to the end kept me onboard all the way thru. I was shocked at certain parts, but it was in a very good way. lol

I can't wait to read about Lily's journey and of course, my most feverent wish... for Mr. Fowler to wake up and smell the roses (no pun intended) where that awful woman Pilar is concerned! Maybe Lily is just the person for the job? *wink*

Review - Play My Game

Play My Game (Stark Trilogy, #3.7)Play My Game by J. Kenner

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 STARS

Nikki & Damien are back... from the land of Honeymoons, where they were in the bubble of love. Of course, that all had to end when they get back to the land of Reality, right? Unfortunately, all too right! But they did manage to squeeze in some sexy time & scavenger games for their first Valentine's day together and men take note: Damien out does himself!

Blackmail, extortion, sex, lies, videotape? Just another day in the life of being Mrs. Damien Stark. Poor Nikki. No one was left untouched. Almost makes you want to question why this? And why now?

I thoroughly enjoyed how the story played out. Of course I have TONS of questions, since the novella was left in a cliffhanger of sorts - but I know the author is building up on two key mementos - 1) the introduction of Jackson Steele for her Stark International series & 2) just who is playing this latest round of messing with Nikki & Damien's HEA.

One thing for sure is, who ever it is - will wish he/she hadn't, cause Damien will do anything to protect his wife & loved ones... ANYTHING!

Review - Hero

HeroHero by Samantha Young

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have so many thoughts swirling in my head right now... I'm gonna have to come back later & leave a more cohesive and thought out synopsis/review.

Okay... I've had some time to think of what I wanted to say...

I did NOT like Caine. At all. I understood that Alexa's family had brought his nothing but pain suffering, but I guess the saying is true - you punish those who appear weaker than yourself. And for Caine that person was Alexa. And I did NOT like that at all. Factor the fact that he disrespected her at every turn and I just wanted to stop reading. But I trudged on, and then it started to happen.

Caine turned me around to his side. How? The longer he was around Alexa, the more his vulnerability, his standoffish-ness seemed to crack. He started to, albeit unwillingly & slowly, to let her in. She made him seem human and not just the jackass he presented for the first moment he came across the page.

From beginning to end I fluctuated between anger & indignation on Alexa's behalf - wanting her to just give up and walk away from the ass! But she didn't. And then I turned my anger & frustration on her. But then she said something that clicked with me - everyone leaves her behind in the end. And like that - BAM! My heart ached for her.

Cause I always felt that way myself. Then, it turned back to anger at Caine over his treatment of her. Never has a book made me question my SANITY in reading it to the end with all these emotions playing out of me. To me, that's the sign of a great writer - to make you FEEL all these emotions and still have enjoyed reading their work.

I highly recommend this book - you will NOT be disappointed!

Review - Last Call

Last Call (Cocktail, #4.5)Last Call by Alice Clayton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

They say writer's often save the BEST for LAST. SO TRUE in this case!!!

My heart was pounding from beginning to the bittersweet end. I kinda had a feeling the direction this one was going to take (with regards to Caroline & Simon), but I was happily surprised with what else was divulged... babies, marriage, More babies!, More marriages, & MORE BABIES!!!

I am going to miss my Wallbanger & Co. *sniff* My last night reads just won't be the same without them.

If you have NOT read this series yet - STOP! immediately & purchase the entire series ... read, Read, READ! And then thank the author for writing it & me afterwards for recommending it *wink*
