Review: Stolen Princess

Stolen Princess Stolen Princess by Alexa Riley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Holy Smokes Stars!!!

Karim is a dream ... a wish Giselle's heart made long ago. That someone she desperately wanted to take her away from her mundane life locked away in her father's house.

From the moment these met, you could feel the energy around them change, grow electrified until the only way for it dissipate was for them to come together, forsaking all else. And boy where there fireworks - during and afterward!

This was a very quick, yet very enjoyable read. I couldn't put it down during my commute home, nor during dinner to eat. You won't want to miss this one ... it's a scorcher!

Ardent Prose PR Hosted Blog Tour of MISTER WRONG by Nicole Williams!

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Cora Matthews grew up with the Adams boys, twin brothers and best friends who wouldn’t let anything come between them except for one thing—her. One of them became her best friend, the other, her fiancĂ©.

She always knew she’d wind up marrying one of them, and Jacob Adams is the very epitome of Mister Right. At least he is up until he fails to show up for their wedding day. Not that Cora realizes it. At first.

As Jacob’s best man, and identical twin, Matt makes a split second decision, but one that will affect the three of their lives forever—he steps in to take his brother’s place. In front of the altar, exchanging vows with the woman he’s secretly been in love with for years.

Cora eventually finds out about the groom swap. The morning after the wedding. As if realizing she just slept with her fiance’s brother wasn’t disturbing enough, she’s forced to confront her feelings for Matt Adams she thought she’d buried years ago.

Matt’s wrong for her. In every way. But through the course of her real honeymoon with her fake husband, she starts to uncover truths both Adams brothers were hoping to keep hidden, for opposite reasons. One to protect himself, the other to protect her.

She married the wrong brother, but what if he’s been the right one all along?

“So?” I crossed my arms and leaned into the banister behind me. “Did you? Like my brother?”
She sighed, turning toward the open door. “Jacob . . .”
“What? It’s a fair question.” I shoved off the banister, feeling hope and heat tangling in my veins from the look on her face, from the sound of her voice. She’d felt something for me, whether it be the most passing of crushes or something much deeper. Realizing that had me feeling drunk from something other than alcohol. “Besides, you’re stuck with me now. Won’t matter what you ’fess up to.”
Cora started through the doorway. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Grabbing the suitcases, I followed her. I wasn’t letting this go. Never. Not if she threatened death or castration or anything else. “Why not?”
She broke to a sudden stop a few feet inside the room. “Because I don’t want to focus on the past. I want to concentrate on the future. That’s not going to work if you keep asking me questions about Matt.”
There was a sharpness in her voice—one she didn’t use too often. She didn’t want to keep talking about me, which only made me want to continue talking about me. I’d struck a nerve, but I wasn’t sure how deep that nerve went.
I needed to know how deep it went. I had to know. My whole life, I’d been under the impression that Cora saw me as nothing more than a good friend and substitute brother. She cared for me, but not in the same way I cared for her.
Or did she?
“This thing with Matt . . .”
Her back stiffened.
“Was it a thing? Like ancient history? Or is it still a thing?” I closed the door and wondered why I could feel my heartbeat in my eardrums.
She kept her back to me, standing in the middle of the dark room like a lone ship on a vast ocean. “I married you.”
Yeah, she did marry me.
“But if he’d made a play for you, way back before all of this”—I waved my finger between the two of us, not that she could see it—“would you have given him a chance?”
“He never made a play for me.” Her voice sounded faraway, like she was out of reach when she was less than an arm’s length away.
“That doesn’t answer my question.” I stepped closer. “If he had? Would you have?”
Her back was moving faster from her quickened breathing. This conversation was making her uncomfortable. Why was that?
“Stop, Jacob. Enough.” She spun on me, swaying in place just enough that I reached out to steady her. She shook my hand away like it was white-hot. “I’m not going to get into another fight with you over Matt. I’m done. I picked you. I married you. What else do I have to prove?”
“That you don’t—”
“I don’t love Matt!” Her arms flung out at her sides as her voice spilled across the room. ‘There. I said it. Are you happy now? Are you happy we’ve managed to get into another argument over this infatuation you’re convinced I have for your brother? On our wedding night of all times?” She glared at me with bleary eyes. I couldn’t tell if that was from tears or from alcohol. Maybe both.
“Cora, I’m sorry.” I ran my hands through my hair, wondering what in the hell I was doing—for the millionth time that day. Deceiving her, betraying her, and now accusing and angering her. Maybe I didn’t know the first fucking thing about love. Maybe Jacob knew more about it than I did, because I wasn’t sure love was supposed to hurt as badly as this did.
“Just . . . enough already.” As she shouldered past me, I reached for her, but she shook me off. “I need to be alone.”
She slammed the front door behind her a moment later, leaving me alone with my idiocy.
“Cora,” I called to an empty room. I wasn’t thinking when I rushed toward the door after her. “Cora!”
The moment I pulled the door open, something crashed into me. It made a sharp breath rush out of my mouth as I staggered back a few steps.
My arms barely had time to wrap around her before Cora’s mouth was on mine, moving in such a way that made staying upright next to impossible. Before I had a chance to catch up to the fact that I was kissing Cora in an entirely different way than we’d kissed at the wedding and reception, her fingers were working at my belt. Quickly.
I didn’t know she’d already gotten it undone before she’d moved on to my zipper. The sounds she was making as she kissed me, the way her body felt aligned against mine, the way her mouth knew the intricate balance of submission and domination . . . one moment at a time, Cora was crushing the last remnants of my resolve. Destroying the final pieces of my views of right and wrong.

Final Score - 5 Messy Twin Stars!

What would you do if the woman you love was about to marry your identical twin? There lies the crux of this story as Matt Adams is about to witness such an event. I honestly can't say what I would do, but what Matt does is nothing short of unexpected, slightly underhanded, and ultimately had me questioning his sanity!!!

Matt has loved Cora Matthews all his life. Matt has always been there for Jacob, so of course he decides to help his brother, by standing in for him at his wedding - since his brother Jacob has not shown up. This is where I question not only his mental state but his morals - because he goes through with it and marries Cora. Matt knows that Cora loves his brother and he doesn't want her to go through with the embarrassment of there being no wedding. Why? Seems Cora's relationship with Jacob is not as perfect as everyone else believes. Which lead me to question - Just why is Cora marrying Jacob? What will happen when the truth comes out? What happens with the betrayal of such a colossal mess? What happens when the lives of three people are changed forever?

Even through all the ups and downs of this story, Matt stole my heart! The way he cared for Cora and the way he hid his feelings all those years (which he had opportunity time & time again to tell her). He was always there for her even though her eyes were set on his brother. His love for Cora never wavered.

Jacob is another story. I just couldn't understand him or his reasoning's AT ALL. Once you read the book, you'll know what I mean. I enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading more of Ms. William's books in the future.

Review: Jude

Jude Jude by Kathy Coopmans
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Stars!!!

As someone who didn't read the 1st Saint's book (Riddick & Cora's story), I didn't find myself lost while reading Jude and Vivian's story.  It was it's own and completely separate.  In a word - awesome!

How can anyone not fall in love with the smart mouthed, sexy as sin, glasses wearing cop that is Jude Westbrooke?  I know I couldn't resist!  He's not only an old, gentle soul but he's also a man who has no problem in showing his true emotions to the woman who's captured his mind for the past six months.  And when he loves, he loves whole & completely.  But, he has certainly met his match in the firey red lipped Vivian.

These two heat up every page they're on.  And what an intense journey their love story was. I'm still getting chills just remembering.

Can't wait to read about Tyson and his lady, but first ... I must read Riddick and Cora's story!

Final Score - 5 Stars!

A solider who gave it all to his country, including his leg, who wouldn't be a grumpy ass after being discharged before his was read? A woman who is trying to provide the last and most elusive Crane Brother assistants who him promptly fires after raging at them before hand, and she's at the end of her rope!

Isabella wants to save her beloved business, which she battle her own family over, from being destroyed by the Grumpy Crane brother who's determined to send all her well placed assistants on the chopping block of unemployment.

All Eli wants to be left alone, family and business be damned. He's already sacrificed a leg for his country giving his service to it, he doesn't want to commit the rest of his life to a family business he's never felt anything other than obligation towards.

So, Isabella take it upon herself to make herself his newest, most agreeable, but not a pushover assistant. And the moment that Eli looks into her eyes ... the sparks start to fly. But, Isabella is a formidable woman. She's the perfect woman to go up against Eli's curmudgeon, bastard like attitude. I admired her feisty strength and disengaging charm. The two of them made sparks fly.

Their passion and chemistry left it's mark on the pages and made for quite an enjoyable romance. There is something so innately good about the two of them together. There was an instantaneous feeling of peace when they met that went so much farther than simple attraction/lust. The kinship and trust and they development is what true romance is made of.

I enjoyed this book so much more than the first two, maybe it was Eli's attitude and Isabella's never wavering strength, but it jumped started me back into reading as this book was personable, charming, and fun with mild angst laced throughout leaving me totally satisfied as a romance reader and feeling grateful for having the chance to fall for this series all over again.

EXCERPT

Standing, she smoothed her hands down her pants and flipped her hair. She had planned to quietly finish her work and leave without seeing him again. No such luck. And no hiding that she was heading his way when her heels clicked along the concrete floor.
Well.
The kiss had happened. The button incident had happened. There was no taking it back. Regardless of how either of them felt about it, she was going to continue working here. So. She would deal with the here and now.
Since the sun was shining, Eli’s lair was welcome instead of foreboding. No fire cracked in the hearth today. Also unlike his usual, he wasn’t at his desk. He was at the printer.
“This yours?” He offered a sheet of paper.
“Yes.” She couldn’t keep from explaining. “Pressed the Print button by accident.”
Mi printer es su printer.”
Isa accepted the document and Eli sank his hands into his jeans pockets, his forearms flexing with the movement.
“I wasn’t—”
“I shouldn’t—” they said at the same time.
He pursed his lips and she looked at her shoes. “Go ahead.” She was going to say, I wasn’t offended when you kissed me, but now that she’d had a millisecond to think it through, maybe she should pretend the kiss hadn’t happened. Which was . . . impossible. Standing this close to him, it’s all she could think about.
“I shouldn’t have ruined your shirt,” he said.
“I dared you to.”
“Why?” His eyebrows compressed along with his lips.
“Because you have accepted the role of beast, but I don’t believe that’s who you are.” She let her gaze linger on his face before tracking down his body. “And because I like a challenge.”
“Do you?” He took a wide step toward her.
She matched his move and took one step closer to him. “Yes. I don’t wilt easily.”
He threaded her hair between his fingers, a look of longing and hurt mingling in his eyes. “I was about to lie and say I shouldn’t have kissed you.”
Shivers climbed her spine as she remembered how firm his lips felt against hers. “Maybe . . . you shouldn’t have stopped.”

Cover Reveal for SOMETHING IN THE WAY by Jessica Hawkins!

... to be released on February 27th!

Cover Photo by Lauren Perry, Perrywinkle Photography
Cover Design © R.B.A. Designs
Coming Monday, February 27th: Something in the Way, book one in an epic, three-book saga of forbidden love...
It was a hot summer day when I met him on the construction site next to my parents’ house. Under the sweat and dirt, Manning Sutter was as handsome as the sun was bright. He was older, darker, experienced. I wore a smiley-face t-shirt and had never even been kissed. Yet we saw something in each other that would link us in ways that couldn’t be broken...no matter how hard we tried.
I loved Manning before I knew the meaning of the word. I was too young, he said. I would wait. Through all the carefully-chosen words hiding what we knew to be true, through his struggle to keep me innocent, and through infinitely-starry nights—I would wait. But I’d learn that life isn’t always fair. That no matter how much you achieve, none of it matters if you suffer the heartbreak that comes with falling for someone you can never have. Because even though I saw Manning first, that didn’t matter. My older sister saw him next.

Review: Pin Me Down

Pin Me Down Pin Me Down by Holly Dodd
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Stars!

This is the second book in this series and I have to say - WOAH!

We were introduced to Regi and his man-whore self in the first book (back when Jo was trying to get his attention). The object of Regi's affections is Mia (Jo's best friend), but Mia is hiding her true feelings and has pushed Regi out of her life, in the romantic sense.

What we learn in their backstory is that Regi and Mia have been fighting their feelings since High School. Regi fell in love with Mia before heading off to college but Mia had sworn off love. These two head off to separate colleges but are brought back together due to circumstances - I call it divine intervention. Regi has tried to move on from Mia, with disastrous results. He just can't find anyone he wants to be with more than Mia. However, Regi may have just blown any chance when hooks up with Lucia...

Mia isn't interested in relationships at all. She has sworn off love after seeing her mother and father's relationship spiral into a life pain, misery, alcoholism and abuse. She tries pushing Jo and Regi together because she knows if they hook up she can push him away forever. Then one night at the Brewhouse everything changes and she finds Regi with his latest conquest.

Will this be the one thing she will never be able to forgive him for or will this be a wake up call for them both? When Jo gives Regi some much needed advice, will he take it and fight for what he wants? When Jo gives Mia the same advice, will this be what breaks through to Mia? How will other events that happen change everything for these two, will love prevail?

I love Ms. Dodd's outlook on college life and the inner working of collegiate mind. This book is such a #OneClick because it is, in one work - HOT!!! Regi will steal your heart and make you want to smack Mia when she doesn't fall in line! I can't wait for the next book in the series (there's an event that just choked me up) and I want to see what happens in the aftermath of it.
