Fallen Woman by Stephie Walls
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Final Score - 5 Teary Eyed, I'm Over Emotional Now Stars!!!
This is not your typical single parent story line. It's raw, emotional, and in your face about the true lengths a mother will go to - not only to protect and provide for her children, but how far she's willing to compromise herself to do it. I respect the HELL outta that.
Gianna or Gia is a character that you not only respect, but you want the best for her and her kids. You want her to get the HEA that they all deserve. My heart broke reading about her story and what she had been through (a less than ideal start at life, her struggling to pull herself up from being another statistic, her seemingly fairy-tale ending 1st marriage). She's been thru and experienced a lot of heartache for one so young, but what I loved the most was that she did it while always put herself last (her wants/needs).
Jase at first glance left me with a weary feeling that was soon expelled and turned into great admiration. Yes, he came from wealth and didn't think much of it ... but then he never really had to. He always had it. Being the outsider looking into Gia's life and circumstances, he began to take notice and tried to help her. Granted, his solution wasn't the "best" solution, but he tried. And somehow, along the way, he fell hard - not only for Gia, but for her kids as well. That made my heart mush! *le sigh*
This book was an such an emotional read ... after reading it, I had to call my mom (who was a single mother while I was growing up) and just tell her how much I appreciated all that she sacrificed for me and my brothers.
This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
